Riverton Parke did not allow a run in two games two win the IHSAA Semi State Championship on Saturday.
In game one, the Lady Panthers beat Monroe Central 4-0.
RP scored twice in the 3rd inning, added another run in the 4th, and another run in the 5th on a solo home run by Sarah Burnham.
Haley Chambers picked up the pitching win allowing only one hit while striking out 14 batters. She also was 3-4 at the plate in the game.
In the championship game Riverton Parke defeated Lakewood Park Christian 2-0.
Riverton Parke got on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning. Ashley Kinne led off the 2nd with a single. Mikayla Grindle advanced her to 2nd with a sacrifice bunt. One out later Randi Cookus ripped a double down the left field line to score Kinne.
RP added another run in the 3rd. Paige Yando reached on an error. Chambers bunt was then misplayed by the defense and both runners were safe. Sara Dickey’s bunt was thrown away allowing Yando to score and give RP a 2-0 lead.
Lakewood Park threatened to score in the 5th. With two outs they loaded the bases on an infield single and two walks, but Chambers struck out the next batter to end the threat.
Two RP errors allowed two base runners in the 6th, but again Chambers struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
Chambers registered her 20th win of the season while allowing only 4 hits and striking out 14 more batters.
Offensively Grindle went 2 for 2 and Cookus was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple.
Riverton Parke (30-2) ranked #2 in Class 1A will play in the state championship game on Saturday at Ben Davis High School at 10:30. The Panthers will face #1 ranked Indianapolis Lutheran (32-1).
